Tom Knapp - sculptor, painter, and teacher - lives and works in a quiet spot in the Hondo Valley a few miles from Ruidoso, New Mexico. Here he and his artist wife, Dorothy Bell Knapp, maintain studios, gallery, foundry and home. Tom is an artist in the truest sense of the word who works in many media, but prefers to express himself in the age-old process of lost wax casting.
He is intensely interested in the contemporary Indian and seeks ever-fresh ways to depict the dignity and culture of the present-day Indian and Westerner. He studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts at Oakland and at the Art Center School .
He was a Walt Disney artist for a number of years. His work is handled by galleries nationwide and is in many public and private collections around the world. Tom is a dedicated teacher and spends several months each year teaching drawing, painting, and sculpting in the Western States. He conducts workshops and seminars from time to time in mold making and related subjects at his studio.
He is listed in Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in American Art.
